What we are working on for 2023:
Plating Resources, Inc., will continue to educate the California Air Resources Board (CARB) on their current plan to ban Hex-Chrome Plating in California. We will also be advising the EPA on the Sustainable Hard Chrome approach using our 7-Step Process that proves Environmentally Safe Hex-Chrome Plating is NOW Possible! This results in Zero Cr stack discharges at 20,000 DC amperes, a clean shop and the workers testing 55 – 156 times below the OSHA Cr PEL, all without having to use a fume suppressant. With this process there is no need to further restrict or ban this vital industry.
We will help educate the industry on important topics like Operator Training, Process Control, The Future of Hard Chrome, the Triple Catalyst Bath, Pitting in Hard Chrome, Troubleshooting, Dummying Procedures, Reverse Etch & Activation, Anode Fabrication and other critical subjects.
Dummying and/or dumping a bath is the only practical and cost-effective option currently available to remove containments out of Hex-Cr baths. We anticipate releasing the first product available that actually removes trivalent and possibly other impurities as well.
Our top new products/services for 2022 were:
The Triple Catalyst hard chrome bath that increases efficiency, reduces emissions and provides an extremely smooth and hard chromium deposit. The buffering agents used also greatly improves the bath’s resistance to trivalent, iron and copper impurities.
We also introduced our “Hard Chrome University” program to train workers in the art and science of hard chrome plating. Education is becoming incredibly important in today’s work environment where quality, efficiency and employee education is at the forefront.
What our customers are telling us about 2023:
Our customers are worried about operational costs, material availability, employee training, and governmental impact. We view helping the industry survive these problems as an important part of our mission because hexavalent hard chrome is vital to America’s economy, defense and future.
Many hard chrome shops are looking to upgrade their operation to improve efficiency and throughput, product quality and reduce their environmental impact. Our site surveys, equipment and process engineering and education programs stand ready to assist with this important task.
