TechTalk: Jeff Beard, Jayco Cleaning Technologies

Jeff Beard of Jayco Cleaning Technologies discusses their single-basket washer system, which many surface finishing operations have found significantly helps in part cleaning.

Jeff BeardJeff BeardBeard says that critical parts require high cleanliness levels, which can be difficult to achieve. Still, he explains how Jayco's team of process engineers deeply understands the medical, optics, and aerospace industries, taking the guesswork out.

One of Jayco's products is a single-chamber washer, which is a single vacuum chamber that brings wash solution—or rinse solution—to the chamber in a spray, spray flood, or ultrasonics.

“We also do vacuum assist, where we can rotate the baskets or just rock them,” Beard says. “One of the nice things about this system is called a Mafac Palma with a rotating spray head. If you have intricate parts that cannot be rotated, the spray arms rotate 360 degrees around the basket.”

Beard says the rotation allows for full cleaning around all sides of the parts without rotating the basket.

“It's a nice feature that just adds to the process,” he says. “There are specific customers that have that requirement, and the great thing about the washer is that it has all these capabilities, and you either use it or not, depending upon the parts you're washing at that time.”
