SUMMARY OF JOB
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Technical Manager to oversee and lead our Quality and Process Engineering teams in a fast-paced, diverse, and constantly evolving manufacturing environment. This role requires someone who thrives under pressure, excels at managing multiple priorities simultaneously, and has a proven ability to drive results in a dynamic, high-energy setting. Proactive, highly organized, and detail-oriented individuals will excel in this environment.  In addition to the Quality and Process Engineering teams, this position will work closely with cross-functional teams, and report to the Plant Manager. This position offers a career path leading to the Plant Manager role.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead and manage the quality and process engineering teams, ensuring alignment with company goals and customer requirements.
  • Oversee product compliance to customer specifications, industry standards, and internal quality requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain effective quality management systems (QMS) to ensure high standards of product quality and process performance.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and customer service teams to identify and resolve any quality issues or process inefficiencies.
  • Support and guide process engineers in designing, analyzing, and optimizing plating processes to improve product quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Lead investigations and root cause analysis for non-conformances, customer complaints, and process deviations, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Work with the Plant Manager and leadership team to develop long-term strategies for quality and process improvements.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies such as Six Sigma, Lean, or similar approaches to reduce variation and improve productivity.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for quality and process performance, and report findings to senior management.
  • Prepare and present technical reports, audits, and regulatory documentation as needed.
  • Foster a culture of safety, quality, and excellence within the team and across the organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned 
EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field (Advanced degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality or process engineering in an aerospace manufacturing or plating environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Strong understanding of aerospace industry standards (e.g., AS9100, NADCAP), customer specifications, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with quality management systems (QMS), process optimization, and statistical process control (SPC).
  • Proven track record in driving continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities, with the ability to motivate and develop engineers.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and customers.
  • Knowledge of regulatory, safety, and environmental standards applicable to aerospace manufacturing.
DESIRED SKILLS: Certification in Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt) or similar process improvement methods, experience with advanced plating technologies and coating processes is a plus.  Familiarity with ERP systems and quality management software.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to dangerous chemicals, including exposure to fumes or airborne particles below OSHA permissible limits.  Frequently exposed to high heat and humid conditions.  Employee will be frequently exposed to loud sounds, below the OSHA permissible limits.
