Matte black powder coat on Brass and Bronze was created by Reader

I have been looking for a process that will be a durable weather/abrasive Matte black finish for Brass or bronze. I own a small start-up company that makes tactical equipment for K-9's. I have decided to try powder coating. I have tried many other avenues but none have worked thus far. I am new to powder coating, but know a good bit about metal-finishing being a former Dental prosthetic tech. BUT...

My questions first of all: Can brass and bronze be Powder-coated? The item that I am trying to powdercoat is the common brass snap with the spring used on dog leashes. I realize I will need to mask the spring area so that after it is powder coated it will continue to work. Does anyone know of a company that can make custom silicone plugs? I will probably buy an assortment and try to modify them for the experimental phase but this info will be helpful in the future.

Is glass bead blasting the part prior to coating the only "Cleaning" I would need to do or will they have to be washed or prepped with any chemical?

Is there anything else I may need to know? Thanks for your time folks.
