Bob Zipperer has been promoted to Engineering and Quality Manager at Professional Plating in Brillion, Wisconsin.
Since joining Professional Plating in 1992 as an Acrylic Production Technician, Zipperer has held various roles and progressed through the company learning at every step along the way. His 30 year PPI journey seen him move to the Quality Team in January of 1993 and receive four promotions from 1993 to 1998.
Zipperer led PPI’s Powder Coating operation from 2010 to 2014, and he then became the company’s first Engineering Coordinator. In 2019 he took on the dual role of Engineering and Quality Coordinator.
“Under Bob’s leadership our quality has steadily improved year over year,” says Larry Dietz, General Manager of Professional Plating. “His mentoring and leadership of our Sales and Estimating team along with working to provide support and value for our operations and customers through his talent in engineering and manufacturing has been a huge plus for Professional Plating and our customers.”
Dietz says Zipperer’s efforts will continue to work to take their processes to the "Best in Class” category while working to automate and improve along the way.
Professional Plating is not only is it one of the largest electroplaters in the Midwest, but it also has a large powder coating operation and an electrocoat facility. The company was established in 1979 as a zinc plating operation with a barrel line. In June of 1983 the company expanded its zinc plating capabilities with the purchase of a Cyclemaster rack line.
More recently, in November of 2015 PPI moved into an existing 10,000 square foot building to a separate property offsite of their Northway Drive location. This allowed PPI to construct a new 60,000 square foot addition. Along with that addition came a new zinc rack plating machine. The building and equipment installation was completed and started up in November 2016.
