As we step forward into the new year, we are deeply focused on bringing sustainable technologies to market. Our top focuses are on eliminating hazardous substances; reducing wastewater, metals, and energy usage; and improving recyclability, workplace safety, and production hurdles. TRIMAC Blue, our next-generation decorative trivalent chrome process, delivers unrivaled performance and unmatched design characteristics highly requested by Automotive OEMs. This next-gen sustainable chrome process is free of any Hexavalent Chrome and PFOS/PFAS, reduces metal, water, and energy consumption, and, most notably, achieves a design appearance matching the traditional hexavalent chrome finishes of the past.   

Further eliminating hazardous substances, our evolve, and evolveBond POP Chrome-Free Etching Technologies fully eliminate Chrome and PFOS/PFAS entirely from the Plating on Plastic etching processes with high yield adhesion properties and offers a long-life process solution reducing water, metal, and energy usages. These technologies and many more MacDermid Enthone plans to offer in 2023 are paving the way to a sustainable future for our industry.   

Our top new products/services for 2022 were:

2022 was an interesting year as MEIS focused on sustainable technologies eliminating PFOS/PFAS and Hexavalent Chrome while also navigating raw material supply chain issues to prevent any disruptions of our customers’ production. MacDermid Enthone introduced a widely successful Semi-Bright Nickel System, NiMac 604, and grew our portfolio of production-proven Chrome (VI)-Free pretreatment sequences for plating on plastic applications. In addition, performance-enhancing chrome-free post dips such as TRISTAR SHIELD for decorative trivalent chromes were introduced with performance and sustainability in mind.
