Liebherr-Aerospace has reached a major milestone at its service center in Singapore with the industrialization of an advanced TCS/PACS protection coating process on heat transfer equipment components on board various aircraft programs.
TCS (trivalent chromium system) enhances corrosion resistance and paint adhesion, and PACS (post-application conversion sealer) seals and reinforces the protective layer for long-term durability. Together, they deliver performance on par with legacy coatings without the environmental drawbacks. This coating process complies with REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals), a European Union regulation adopted to improve the protection of human health and the environment from the risks posed by chemicals. Compliance requires replacing traditional chromium-based treatments with more environmentally friendly alternatives.

Cadaux says Liebherr-Aerospace complied with the regulations applicable in the EU and APAC, thereby avoiding regulatory risks and delays in aircraft operations. In addition, with the new coatings, Liebherr-Aerospace anticipates upcoming global regulations.
“Our customers avoid costly retrofits or recertification at a later date in the life cycle, as their components already meet future configuration standards today,” he says.
In line with Liebherr-Aerospace's global customer service strategy, further service centers will follow, such as the facility in Shanghai (China), which is working on introducing REACH-compliant processes as well in the first quarter of 2026. This also applies to third-party sites that repair Liebherr-Aerospace products under license. These achievements demonstrate Liebherr’s long-term commitment to industrial excellence and regulatory leadership in the context of cross-regional certification.
