INCERTEC Acquires Circle City Heat Treating

Innovative Certified Metal Plating and Anodizing in Minnesota has acquired Circle City Heat Treating.

The transaction closed on January 12. Headquartered in Indianapolis, Circle City Heat Treating provides heat treating, black oxide, and cryogenic solutions founded in 1952.

INCERTEC is headquartered in Fridley, Minnesota, and gold plating, electroless nickel plating, copper plating, and anodizing are its core finishing functions.

Generational Equity, a mergers and acquisitions advisor to Circle City Heat Treating, helped arrange the purchase.

“The buyer and seller immediately hit it off, having the same philosophy on how to conduct business,” says Jerry Yocum, Generational Equity’s Senior Managing Director. “This made for a cordial closing process.”

INCERTEC started as Spec Plating, a specialty plating company, metal finishing, and engineering solutions company founded in Fridley, Minnesota, in 1993. Its operation expanded in 2002 when it opened a Kansas facility. The company was renamed INCERTEC in April of 2011.

In the Minneapolis facility, INCERTEC serves the aerospace, defense, medical, and other major industries. They routinely operate gold plating, nickel plating, specialty composites plating (or metalizing), and various anodizing lines out of this location.

In late 2011, INCERTEC opened a new metal plating facility in Empalme, Mexico. The company says the location is poised to become a Tier I aerospace supplier.
