How did you get your start in the finishing industry?
I grew up in the industry, riding the cranes in the GOAD shop as a kid. I knew from an early age joining the family business was of interest, and I am forever grateful for the opportunities the finishing industry has afforded my family and myself.
What do enjoy best about the finishing industry?
The comradery of the professionals in the industry. I was always told, “Once you’re in the finishing industry, there’s no getting out.” I find this to ring true, and believe it is the relationships developed with colleagues in the industry that make people want to stick around.
If you could live anywhere, where would it be?
I haven’t visited enough locations to make that decision. I hope COVID is behind us soon so I can continue exploring the world.
What is your biggest fear?
Failure.
What is your favorite family vacation?
Colorado in the summer, Mexico in the winter.
What really makes you angry?
Lack of accountability. Mistakes happen; acknowledge them, do all you can to correct them, then learn from them so they don’t happen again.
What motivates you to work hard?
Customers and legacy. There is nothing more rewarding than positive feedback received from customers praising the work of GOAD’s team at the end of a successful project. I strive to carry on the legacy the generations before me developed at GOAD Company.
What is your favorite thing about your career?
Traveling to our customer’s facilities, exploring all the cool things we have a part in manufacturing, and building relationships with customers.
What is your biggest complaint about your job?
Mike Rowe says “I believe the most annoying sounds in the world are whining and complaining. I will never make them. If I am unhappy in my work, I will either find a new job, or find a way to be happy.”

In the evening, would you rather play a game, visit a relative, watch a movie, or read?
Visit a relative.
Would you rather win the lottery, or work at the perfect job?
Work at the perfect job. The financial security of winning the lottery would be great, but shortly thereafter I would seek the purpose in life that a fulfilling career offers.

My wife and kids. As long as we’re together, I have all that I need.
