A Bright Idea: Reliable Plating Works Launches its Custom Chrome Division

Reliable Plating Works (RPW), one of the largest nickel-chrome platers in Wisconsin with over 100 employees, has launched a Custom Chrome division.

“Custom Chrome was created to supply the ever-growing need for the one-off, unique, and specialized custom job,” says Jaime Maliszewski, president and CEO.

RPW Elite 1Maliszewski, a self-described “car guy,” came up with the idea while building his own “resto mod,” a vehicle that has been put back together with the addition of new modern or aftermarket parts that were not on the vehicle when it came from the factory.

He says he noticed how many hot rods custom cars, race cars, car clubs, motorcycles, home garage mechanics, small builder service garages, and restoration shops there were in Wisconsin area.

“The collector car hobby is big, and so is the need for quality, original replacement and refurbished parts,” Maliszewski says. “And chrome, a lot of chrome. And, its most likely going to need work, from simple polishing to reshaping to total repair. Everyone in this game wants perfection.”

To assure the highest quality, he says the Custom Chrome work will be produced utilizing the support, expertise, and advanced technology of their facilities located in Milwaukee, which includes sister company, Elite Finishing.

While other shops may be small and limited in what the can chrome, Maliszewski says RPW and Elite can do anything from door hinges to semi truck bumpers, or anything in between and beyond.

“Whatever piece or shape — if it’s rusted, pitted, has pores, cracks, blisters, is old, tarnished, faded, used and abused, whatever,” he says. “We’ll not only make it look like new - but like new OEM – shining, cool, perfect, and long-lasting and, we go way beyond the automotive.”

Maliszewski says the chrome division will also do housewares and other items: appliances, furniture, decorative pieces, plumbing, and plumbing fixtures, even gun parts.

“We’re perfect for the backyard mechanic who’s working on just one project at a time,” he says. “But we also want to work with small mechanical or restoration shops that wants high quality and needs convenient, knowledgeable and timely service. Or an artist who always works with unique and unusual shapes.”
