Tide Rock Acquires Electro-Spec, Launches Specialty Surface Finishing Platform

Tide Rock has acquired Electro-Spec, a specialty plating and surface-finishing company with operations in Indiana and South Carolina, and established a new specialty surface-finishing platform for the investment firm.

Electro-Spec provides plating and finishing services for aerospace, defense, medical, telecommunications, nuclear, and battery applications. The company operates facilities in Franklin, Indiana, and Lexington, South Carolina.

Electro-Spec works with OEMs and precision machining companies on applications requiring corrosion protection, wear resistance, conductivity and other performance characteristics. The company has invested in automated production equipment, laboratory capabilities and proprietary plating technologies focused on process control, traceability and repeatability.

Electro-Spec President Jeff Smith said selecting an ownership partner that would continue investing in the company and its technology was an important consideration.

Smith said the company’s employees, technological innovation, and focus on high-reliability applications have driven its growth.

Electro-Spec has provided specialty plating and surface finishing services for more than 60 years.
