Meghan Bates is the Vice President at Luke Engineering in Wadsworth, Ohio, which specializes in anodizing and conversion coatings for the light metals of aluminum and magnesium.
She has been with Luke Engineering since 2011, serving as a project manager and plant manager, before becoming vice president in 2018. Bates has a degree from Valparaiso and an MBA from Belmont University.
How did you get your start in the finishing industry? My Grandfather started Luke Engineering and I had the ability to work there during the summers in college. After gaining outside experience in other industries, I came back to work at Luke full-time in 2011.
What does enjoy best about the industry? I enjoy all the fascinating and important projects we get to coat. I like knowing that I am contributing to our country's military, aerospace, and defense efforts.
Is your glass half full or half empty? Very, very full.
What three items would you take with you on a deserted island? Music, Knife, pictures of family.
What was your favorite subject in school? History.
What's the most unusual thing you've ever eaten? Pig snout.
Do you collect anything? Memories.
Are you an introvert or an extrovert? Both! I'm an ambivert.

What do you do to keep fit? Boot Camp 3-4 times per week, and I eat my vegetables.

If you were ruler of your own country what would be the first law you would introduce? Everyone must spend a day with someone of a different ethnicity/background.
What three things do you think of the most each day? My wife, my job, and my 401K.
