The Powder Coating Institute is presenting a full-day symposium “Powder Coating Wood-Based Substrates: A Proven, Sustainable Solution” at the International Woodworking Fair in August.

The event will be from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Monday, August 22 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, GA. This is the first educational collaboration between PCI and IWF, and PCIs first-ever full day symposium covering the exciting technologies involved in powder coating wood-based substrates (WBS).

Speakers with expertise in powder formulation, manufacturing, application, and curing will educate attendees on advancements in powder coating on WBS, the application process, and how powder coating can be a more sustainable, cost-effective process than liquid finishing solutions.

The agenda will be presented by industry experts and cover the following topics:

  • Introduction of Processes for Wood Based Substrates, Scott Persyn, PPG.
  • Powder Coating Technologies for WBS, Mike Knoblauch, Keyland Polymer Material Science and Jeno Muthiah, PPG.
  • Powder Application Methods & Booths for WBS, Jeff Hale, Gema USA.
  • Preheat & Curing of WBS, Marty Sawyer, Trimac Systems.
  • Why Switching from Liquid to Powder on WBS Makes Sense, J.R. Rogers, Wagner Systems.
  • Panel Discussion.

There will be ample time allowed for questions and answers during the symposium.

The tradeshow component of IWF will be held from Tuesday, August 23 to Friday, August 26, and attendees will also have an opportunity to visit PCI at booth BC1032. For more information and to register for the symposium: www.powdercoating.org/iwf
