We speak with Tim Brinner, Vice President of Thermoplastics at IFS Coatings, about their various products and how applicators are using them.
Brinner says their Puroplaz PE, a polyethylene-based powder, delivers incredible adhesion and flexibility.
"We launched this product in early 2020, and it was a culmination of a few years of R&D of getting all the right equipment together and the right products together," He says. "We now have five distinct product lines out there that are being used for various applications."
Typical Puroplaz PE applications would be for fence posts, wire extrusions, outdoor furniture, playground decking, high-traffic areas, barrier walls, and many other uses.
Brinner says one of its products, Puroplaz PE21, is a true copolymer.
"It has all the properties and performance characteristics of a true copolymer, but with much-improved scratch and mar resistance," Brinner says. "It really fills that gap and allows thermoplastics of this nature to get into some applications where the aesthetics just weren't good enough under normal wear and tear."
IFS will be coming out later with Puroplaz PA, a nylon-based coating that is tough yet extremely smooth.
