The Society of Vacuum Coaters Board of Directors has decided to cancel the in-person 2021 TechCon, and will instead hold as virtual event May 3 to May 7.
“We value the health of our stakeholders above all else,” says Frank Zimone, SVC Executive Director. “We will simply not expose any of our stakeholders to even the smallest risk as they travel to an SVC event, attend the event, interact at that event, and then travel home; all amid a pandemic that is a global health emergency.
The SVC 2021 Virtual TechCon will consist of five days of presentations, from May 3-7. The program each day will consist of two parallel tracks over a seven hour period and Zimone expects to be able to present a very robust program of keynote, invited and contributed talks.
“Some pieces of our annual TechCon simply do not translate well to a virtual environment,” Zimone says. “As a consequence, we will not hold a ‘virtual’ exhibition in 2021.”
Instead they will offer a “Product Showcase” to all exhibitors on their TechCon website so that all of their SVC stakeholders can reach out directly to the exhibitor base through 2021 and in the leadup to our 2022 in-person event planned for Long Beach, CA.
Zimone says the SVC Education Program will also be offered virtually in 2021.
