The February meeting of the FinishingAndCoating.com Wastewater Treatment Users Group will be held on Feb. 2 and feature a guest speaker from the regulatory side.
Kevin Shropshire is the Pretreatment Coordinator for the Wastewater Treatment and Water Reclamation Department for the City of Rockledge in Florida, where he ensures compliance with and enforcement of the city wastewater ordinances, state statutes, and EPA regulations pertaining to the pretreatment of sewage for Rockledge.
FinishingAndCoating.com Editor-in-Chief Tim Pennington moderates the discussion.
A few topics Shropshire will discuss at the online meeting, which is on Feb. 2 at 1:00 ET:
- How a pretreatment permit is written for a metal finishing shop.
- Things that shops can be doing to prepare for inspections.
- Other general items that shops should do to assist the agency in reference to their permit, inspections, and violations.
Shropshire is also Vice President of the Florida Industrial Pretreatment Association and received the 2020 Albert B. Herndon award for Outstanding Performance and Professionalism in the Water Environment Industry and Industrial Pretreatment, presented annually to a Florida Water Environment Association (FWEA) member who has excelled in the field of industrial pretreatment. Previously, he worked for the cities of Orlando, West Palm Beach, and Oldsmar.
The goal of the Wastewater Treatment User Group is to bring together professionals in the finishing and coating industry who are tasked with maintaining and improving their wastewater system and share insight, and tips, answer questions, and share ideas.
The group meets each month to provide news and updates, peer-to-peer discussion, and hopefully find solutions to issues facilities may be having.
