FABTECH returns to Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, GA, from November 8-10 with a one-stop-shop where you can meet suppliers, see the latest technologies, learn how to increase profits, and discover tools to improve productivity while networking with industry peers. Check out below the TOP TECHNOLOGY TRENDS for the 2022 FABTECH show.

Hybrid Coater’s Specialty PVD Finishes Differentiate Parts & Products

The new VaporTech® VT-1500i™ physical vapor deposition (PVD) coating machine has been designed based on input from manufacturers like you.

VaporTech VT 1500This system is an excellent choice for medium-sized operations or those requiring a broader range of coating technologies.

This hybrid PVD coating machine lets you deposit a broader range of performance thin-film coatings (functional and durable-decorative) with up to three deposition sources and three PVD deposition technologies. It excels at both durable/decorative and specialty coatings made possible with Its hybrid setup. The system is perfect for specialty coatings, with multi-metal and multi-layer coatings to improve durability and wear. Your products will function and look better than your competitors.’

Hybrid PVD coating applications

Typical applications for users of this system include:

  • Home hardware
  • Jewelry
  • Automotive
  • Medical devices
  • Cutting tools
  • Forming and molding
  • Engineered components
  • Non-toxic chrome replacement

Hybrid PVD machine technologies

Depending on need, the system uses one or more technologies: low-temperature cathodic arc and magnetron sputtering for titanium, zirconium, or chromium metal-based coatings; or plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) for diamond-like carbon (DLC) coatings. Up to three separate coating sources (a center target and up to two rotary sputter targets) create coatings unavailable using only one source. The system is used in many industries to deposit thin coatings that add color, durability, and functional properties (wear resistance, lubricity, hardness, etc.) to products.

Hybrid PVD system size

With its mid-sized coating chamber, the VT-1500i hybrid PVD coating system has almost 70% of the throughput of our largest industrial coater but with a slightly larger footprint than our smallest system. The design accommodates 10 one-meter-tall parts racks in one load. It can be configured in a lower-cost cathodic-arc-only configuration or with one or two rotary magnetron sputter sources.
