Gannon & Scott Welcomes Nelson Castellanos as Regional Account Executive

With extensive experience in precious metal refining and related sectors, Gannon & Scott added Nelson R. Castellanos to its team as a Regional Account Executive.

With a career in both the technical and commercial sides of the industry, Castellanos offers a unique perspective. He began his career right inside the refinery, where he gained firsthand knowledge and a solid foundation in the processes and developed an appreciation for the importance of vault security, inventory control, and accountability.

Throughout his career, Castellanos has worked with a wide range of precious metal-bearing materials and applications, including automotive, industrial, chemical, and pharmaceutical catalysts, as well as fuel cell and hydrogen technologies. He has developed a deep understanding of the technical considerations that determine the viability of refining opportunities and the needs of customers across these industries.

At Gannon & Scott, Castellanos will focus on business development, strengthening customer relationships, identifying new material streams, and expanding opportunities in established and emerging markets.

“My goal is to understand where those markets are heading and make sure Gannon & Scott is positioned to capture opportunities,” Castellanos says. “I want to help create relationships and programs that continue to grow over time.”

This forward-thinking perspective aligns with Gannon & Scott's role within the Metalor and TANAKA Group.

“The relationship and collaboration between Gannon & Scott and Metalor are especially exciting to me because it brings together complementary strengths, capabilities, and experience,” Castellanos says.

John Antonacci, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, says bringing Castellanos’s depth of understanding of the various markets and material solutions for businesses is a real advantage.

“He knows this business, understands our customers, and brings a mindset that will be incredibly valuable as we continue to grow,” Antonacci says.

“The best teams ask questions, challenge assumptions, and are open to saying, ‘There may be a better way to do this,’” Castellanos says. “A bit of humor also contributes to building a successful team too.”

Castellanos believes Gannon & Scott’s capabilities, people, and position in the industry provide a strong platform for growth.

“For me, that’s the ideal situation: joining a company with a strong foundation while still having the opportunity to help shape what comes next,” he says.

If Castellanos is not talking about precious metals, he is talking about sports or training. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, boxing, strength training, being outdoors, and anything involving cars.

In the near future, Castellanos aims to understand the company’s operations, foster relationships, and begin delivering results. He is enthusiastic about collaborating with the team.

“The best teams ask questions, challenge assumptions, and are open to saying, ‘There may be a better way to do this,’” Castellanos says. “A bit of humor also contributes to building a successful team too.”
