Roy Metal Finishing Co. in South Carolina celebrated its 60th anniversary with a party for its over 200 associates that included gift bags, shirts, travel mugs, and food.
RMF was founded in 1961, supporting the textile industry in the southeast U.S., with their growth since 2000 having been driven by our involvement within the automotive, heavy truck, and general mobility industries.
RMF operates two facilities in Greenville, SC, with the employment of 200+ associates. RMF joined the Aalberts surface technologies family in 2018 and continues to grow its presence under the new ownership.
The company offers zinc and zinc-alloy plating process, as well as electrocoat, powder coating, and additional finishing capabilities.
A timeline of the history of RMF:
- 1961: Donald Roy began Roy Metal Finishing (RMF) in 1961 after working for years in the textile industry. He had the foresight to start a plating company dedicated to superior quality and customer service with administrative support from his wife, Cecile Roy.
- 1975: Clifford Roy became Vice President of RMF in 1975. He started with the company in sales in 1969 after graduating from the University of Kentucky with a degree in metallurgical engineering.
- 1980s: RMF opens a facility in Conestee, SC, called RMF1.
- 1990s: In the late 1990s, the shift to automotive took RMF in a new direction. The Bosch diesel fuel rail was a “game-changer.”
- 2000s: In the early 2000’s, the RMF2 Plant was constructed for Continental and ZF business in Mauldin, SC.
- 2014: RMF opens new headquarters in Piedmont, SC.
- 2018: Roy Metal Finishing was acquired by Aalberts Industries N.V., a public Dutch technology company founded in 1975 and based in 50 countries worldwide.
