We chat with John Lindstedt, whose family owns Advanced Plating Technologies in Milwaukee.

Lindstedt has an illustrious career, even before working at APT with his father after his military service.

Lindstedt is a former nuclear-trained naval officer who served on the nuclear missile submarine USS Kamehameha, SSBN 642. He made three strategic deterrent patrols in the Mediterranean Sea. He is an avid historian of the U.S. Naval Submarine Force. He was trained in Admiral Rickover’s system of nuclear engineering and met the Admiral on four occasions.

He later became president of Advanced Plating Technologies in Milwaukee, where he has committed much of his professional career to advocating the metal finishing industry through the Government Action Committee within the NASF.

Lindstedt was actively engaged in government at local, state, and federal levels and has advocated for best practices consistent with sound analytical techniques. He served on the NASF Government Relations committee for over 20 years, and his company has won numerous awards, including the U.S. EPA Environmental Achievement Award, the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewage District High Honor Roll, and the John C. Brogan Award for Outstanding Environmental Achievement from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.

Lindstedt is retired and has two sons running the operations: Matt is President of the company, and James is the Vice President and Engineering Manager. Visit https://advancedplatingtech.com.
