DEWALT® 20V Max Flexvolt Advantage Battery Delivers Power to Drills, Saws and More

Any craftsman will tell you: when it comes to cordless tools, it’s all about the power. With that in mind, the new DEWALT® 20V Max Flexvolt Advantage battery is impressive in delivering power and performance to drills, saws, and grinders.

The battery has three times the power of the DC9096 18V battery and has four times the runtime compared to the DCB201 1.5Ah battery pack. It truly is a great combination of power and performance that will help DIYers and the pros perform at a much higher level.

We recently tested the DEWALT® 20V Max Flexvolt Advantage battery with two different tools, the 20V Max Brushless Hammer Drill and the Brushless 7-1/4-In. Circular Saw, and we came away with a much deeper appreciation of what we had been missing.

We tested the DEWALT® Brushless Hammer Drill on a concrete wall, which we know is a beast to work on unless you have the right tools. The new drill has a great ergonomic feel and balance, and this 1/2 in. machine has up to 42% more power when paired with a Flexvolt Advantage battery.

Putting It To The Test

drilling into ceilingWe drilled 10 holes with ease, as the hammer mechanism is true to DEWALT®’s name and pounded and drilled away with relative ease. This was old concrete, and a try with a different maker was much more tedious and physical, but the DEWALT® Brushless Hammer Drill was noticeably easier to cut through.

A quick switch on the drill turned it into a normal drill, and performed well putting the bolts into the holes we had just drilled, and again, much less physical exertion needed. We are told It achieves over 1200 UWO and we loved the three-mode LED light and housing upgrades designed for high torque applications.

We then took the Brushless 7-1/4-In. Circular Saw to the field to cut a few boards and a sheet of plywood, and if we didn’t know it was cordless, we would have assumed we were using direct power. The Circular Saw spec’d out as having up to 77% more power when paired with a Flexvolt Advantage battery, and we could definitely tell the surge in power.

Ergonomically, the Circular Saw holds up well; it is not lightweight at all, so this one will be about the same weight as a regular corded tool, but we enjoyed being two miles from the nearest power source and still being able to cut line we were in the shop.

Continuing Support and Evalution

DEWALT says it is continuing to support the evolution and expansion of the cordless job site, which now includes more than 200 DEWALT 20V MAX* products; the new tools feature updated software and brushless motors for enhanced performance.

We highly recommend the new DEWALT® 20V Max Flexvolt Advantage battery and the tools it works with. Aside from the drill and the saw, upgrades were made to a Brushless Reciprocating Saw with Flexvolt Advantage™ Technology (DCS386B) that has up to 50% more power when paired with a Flexvolt® 6.0Ah battery, as well as a Brushless 4-1/2-In.-5-In.Cordless Grinder with Flexvolt Advantage™ Technology and has up to 54% more power when paired with a Flexvolt® 6.0Ah battery.

The battery and tools became available in October, and each tool will come standard with a three-year limited warranty, one-year free service contract, and 90-day money-back guarantee.
