Gannon & Scott welcomed Chris Cummings as a Senior Accountant for the Cranston, Rhode Island, company.
With a well-rounded finance background, Cummings will oversee daily accounting operations, support financial reporting, and work with leadership to inform good business decisions that will benefit the entire company.
Cummings graduated from the University of Mary Washington with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in accounting. Following his MBA, he began his career at IREX, managing a full-cycle accounts payable operation. He later joined Johnson Lambert LLP as a Senior Audit Associate, analyzing client financial data and executing thorough audit procedures to ensure financial statements were accurate and reliable.
“With Gannon & Scott joining Metalor Technologies USA, it is an exciting time to join the organization."
“I believe my previous role as a financial statement auditor helps give me an outside perspective and an understanding of the whole accounting process,” Cummings says.
Now, Cummings is looking forward to focusing on a single company and taking a deep dive into the precious metals industry. Additionally, he is looking forward to the upcoming acquisition by Metalor Technologies USA, which marks a significant milestone in Gannon & Scott’s history.
“With Gannon & Scott joining Metalor Technologies USA, it is an exciting time to join the organization," Cummings says. “Even though I will be a new member of the team, we will all be learning new systems and approaches. It is an opportunity to be on the ground floor of a historic change.”
"I try to approach it with a plan to divide the work most efficiently, while being flexible and making changes on the fly to ensure that goals are met on time.”
Michelle Cullion, Senior Vice President of Administration, says they are excited to welcome Cummings as Senior Accountant.
“He has a great approach to teamwork, a positive attitude, and a genuine interest in continuous learning, which aligns perfectly with the goals of the company,” Cullion says. “He's a strong addition to the finance department and has a solid foundation in accounting. We look forward to seeing the positive impact he will have on Gannon & Scott.”
Flexibility and strategy are two ways Cummings approaches collaboration.
"I try to approach it with a plan to divide the work most efficiently, while being flexible and making changes on the fly to ensure that goals are met on time,” he says.
During his summers in college, Cummings played baseball in Europe. He is into sports and working out, and even though he is no longer playing baseball, he stays involved in the sport by umpiring high school and middle school games in Rhode Island.
