The City of Carrollton, Texas, Environmental Services Department recognized 10 companies for their commitment to environmental principles and efforts in creating and maintaining a sustainable community.
Texas Finishing Company, Quality Powder Coating, Electro Plate Circuitry, Image Industries, and Western Extrusions.
Five companies are in the finishing industry:Electro Plate Circuitry, Image Industries, and Western Extrusions were also honored with the Environmental Leadership Recognition.
Mayor Steve Babick introduced the Environmental Leadership Recognition, while Mayor Pro Tem Richard Fleming touched on a brief history of each company. Both presented the 2024 awards to the 10 Carrollton companies that have consistently complied with industrial pretreatment and stormwater regulations for a full year. These companies have been honored by the City of Carrollton with this annual award more than 100 times for their consistent leadership and commitment to excellence and the environment.

Previously known as the Consistently Compliant Award, the City renamed it the Environmental Leadership Recognition to reflect the exemplary partnership between these industries and the City of Carrollton. Each company receiving the recognition has displayed innovation and diligence in fulfilling industrial requirements to ensure the safety of Carrollton’s air, water, and other natural resources.
A panel of environmental quality managers in the City, along with a representative from the City Council, reviews these companies each year to determine which are meeting and exceeding requirements to display environmental excellence. Three of the 10 companies given the Environmental Leadership Recognition in 2024 were selected to additionally receive Carrollton’s Environmental Distinction Award. Electro Plate Circuitry, Inc. and Image Industries are first-time award recipients, while Western Extrusions notches the recognition for the fourth time in the award’s history.
This award is given to organizations that demonstrate leadership in creating a sustainable future in their facilities and in the community through a commitment to compliance, demonstration of enhanced pollution prevention practices, and environmental stewardship through recycling efforts, resource reductions, and more.
From their 40,000 square foot facility in Carrollton, Electro Plate Circuitry, Inc. manufactures printed circuit boards for military and aerospace industries. In 2024, the company implemented a new environmental policy that resulted in a 50 percent reduction in chemical usage to lower emissions. They also invested in new equipment to increase load capacity and water efficiency. In addition to the company’s internal efforts, they also participate in the City’s Adopt-A-Spot program, where they conduct a litter clean-up at a designated location in Carrollton every quarter.
Image Industries provides industrial coatings and silk-screening services to Original Equipment Manufacturers and their subcontractors in the medical and technology industries. The company works primarily with other businesses in Carrollton to support the local community. Image Industries’ sustainable efforts include replacing forklifts and other fleet vehicles with electric or hybrid models to reduce emissions and installing energy-efficient LED lighting. Higher temperatures generated by the process equipment heat the facility, and water-filling stations in the workplace have saved approximately 50,000 plastic bottles.
Western Extrusions has extruded, finished, and forged aluminum in Carrollton since 1986. The company implemented new environmental policy in 2024 to continue sustainable practices within their work. This year alone, the company recycled more than 60 million pounds of aluminum on-site and reduced oily water disposal by 24 percent. They also began the process for an externally certified environmental management system. Western Extrusions demonstrated leadership within the community through partnerships with Carrollton Fire Rescue, DART, and local event sponsorship.
