NASF's Web-Based Chromium Plating for Engineering Applications Course

The National Association for Surface Finishing is holding a Web-Based Chromium Plating for Engineering Applications Course in November.

The dates are Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. ET on November 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, 18, 24 and 25

The registration deadline is October 20, and the tuition is $1,130 but is discounted for NASF members at $800. Visit https://my.nasf.org/aesf/EventDetail?EventKey=WB20CHR to register.

This training program is beneficial for operators and supervisors of job shops and captive shops performing hard chromium plating operations on a variety of substrates. The course can also be beneficial for sales personnel who work for suppliers of hard chromium and equipment.

At the conclusion of the Chromium Plating Course, students can expect to:

  • Have a basic understanding of chemical and electrical principles as they relate to hard chromium plating.
  • Be able to apply Faraday's law in calculating the time required to obtain a target thickness of chrome plating.
  • Know the basics of the chromium plating process, including equipment, operational conduction, and the role of impurities.
  • Be aware of methods for reducing contamination from the plating process.
  • Know the types of analytical procedures employed to monitor the hard chromium plating process.
  • Be able to identify the causes of common plating related problems and their solutions.
  • Be prepared to take the optional examination which is part of the AESF Foundation MSF Certification Program.

How Web-Base Courses Work:

  • Register for one or more of the courses being offered throughout the year.
  • Receive hard-copy course materials in the mail just before the start of the course.
  • Follow along on your computer and ask questions during the live presentations made by one of our highly regarded Foundation instructors.
  • Missed a live session or want to review the material presented? No worries - all session recordings are made available to students for 30-days after the original posting date.
  • Once completed with the course, take the optional course exam at your location with a proctor to become certified.
