Staying engaged with its customers is important to Coventya USA, so during these pandemic times where travel is limited or restricted, the supplier to the finishing and coating industry has developed a program to improve the knowledge of its customers.
The “Lunch-and-Learn Webinar Series” brings remote educational presentations by Coventya's top minds directly to their customers, who choose a topic from a list of current trends and issues developed and available for consideration. During the customer lunch period, food is provided for plant personnel to enjoy a good meal while viewing the presentation remotely via the internet. A group of knowledgeable Coventya personnel from across the company conduct the virtual training.
Doug Lay, Director of Technical Marketing for Coventya USA, says topics available include categories covering Cleaning and Surface Preparation, Aluminum Surface Treatment, Anodizing and Sealing, Decorative Trivalent Chrome Plating and other Decorative Technology, Zinc-Zinc Alloys and Passivates, WaterCare, Electroless Nickel, Tin, and Hard Chromium.
Lay says the idea for the webinar series was borne by Coventya's Matt Sisti, and is a long-time fixture in the electroless nickel market.
"We also supplement these issues with several general topics that truly benefit applicators because of its educational purposes," Lay says.
Brad Durkin, one of Coventya's many course instructors, recently presented “How to Improve the Corrosion Performance of your Electroless Nickel” for one of its large customer. The 60-minute module covered important operating variables contributing to improving the quality of EN deposits.
"Even with restricted travel, it is still important to have very close engagement with our customers," Durkin says. "The virtual training with the facility's staff is a great way to bring them new information and best-practices, and keep them up-to-date on the latest trends in the industry."
