RESRG Automotive Closing Two Plating Operations

RESRG Automotive says it is closing two of its nine electroplating operations in the U.S.

The company — which is based in Troy, Michigan, and was formed in April 2025 after Connecticut-based Atlas Holdings acquired SRG Global and REHAU Automotive — is closing its Evansville, Indiana, and Farmington, Missouri, plants, according to WFIE, a television station in Evansville.

The station says RESRG Automotive officials cite current market conditions as the reason for the closure. They say there is a decrease in demand for plating due to changes in vehicle design and the shift from chrome to painted finishes.”

“The difficult decision is not a reflection of the hard work and commitment of RESRG employees,” they station quoted a RESRG Automotive official, adding that they will support employees with “resume review, outplacement services, severance benefits, and employee assistance program offerings.”

Other RESRG facilities in the U.S. are in Troy, MI; Covington, GA; Cullman, AL; Dyersburg, TN; Morehead, KY; Portageville, MS; and Newbern, TN.

RESRG Automotive also has 10 plants in Germany, four in the Czech Republic, three in South Africa, two each in China, France, Hungary, and Spain, and one plant located in Austria, India, Japan, Mexico, Poland, and Slovakia.

The company says it has 10,000 employees located across 22 production facilities worldwide. In 2025, it said the merged operation “combines SRG Global’s leading integrated, functional decorative systems for the automotive, mobility, and commercial truck industries with REHAU Automotive’s high-quality exterior, bumper, and polymer functional systems.”
