American Electro Products and American Plastic Products in Waterbury, Connecticut, have been purchased by Sumco, which has plating facilities in Indiana and Illinois.
American Electro Products was founded in 1950 and says it specializes in gold, silver, rhodium, palladium, nickel, and tin-lead plating using barrel, reel-to-reel, selective, and vibratory methods.
The company says it has over 100 employees and is a Nadcap facility. In addition, American Electro Products has its own in-house fabrication division
American Plastic Products is a custom injection molding division serving a wide range of industrial end markets with precision-engineered plastic components. Both companies are owned by National Integrated Industries.
According to its website, Sumco Group — which is a division of Industrial Manufacturing Group — has two purpose-built electroplating facilities in the Midwest. Sumco Indianapolis was established in 1987 and has expanded to 130,000 square feet with diverse capabilities in continuous strip, reel-to-reel, custom rack, and busbar electroplating. Sumco Joliet was established in 2003 and has 30,000 square feet of continuous strip plating capabilities.
“I’m incredibly proud of the NII team and all we’ve accomplished,” says Sharon Burke, owner of National Integrated Industries. “IMG is the ideal partner to unlock the next stage of growth for the company, and the timing was right to make this transition.”
Carter Morse and Goodrich served as the exclusive financial advisor to NII on this transaction, following its earlier valuation analysis.
